Former Blackburn teacher charged with indecent assaults

A former teacher at a Lancashire grammar school has been charged with sexual offences dating back to the 1970s.

John Mead, 75, from Sabden, taught at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Blackburn, where the alleged victims were pupils.

Lancashire Police said Mr Mead has been charged with four indecent assaults on three boys, then aged under 14.

He was bailed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates' Court on 14 November.
