Some pupils at a school badly damaged in a fire two days before the end of the summer holidays are returning to have lessons at the site.

Pupils at St Mary's Catholic Technology College in Leyland, Lancashire, have been taught at the old Ribbleton Hall High in Preston since the fire.

But years seven, 10 and 11, will now be returning to the main building.

Headteacher Kathryn McNicholas said: "Its business as usual. We're going to be getting some of our children back."

The children are returning to parts of the building that were undamaged and to portable buildings that have been added to the site.

Years eight and nine are still being taught at Ribbleton for the time being but it is hoped they will be back on site by Christmas, a spokesman for Lancashire County Council said.

Five boys, aged 11 to 15, were arrested on suspicion of arson and bailed.
