Arrest after woman is raped on way home in Colne

A man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman who was walking home alone after a night out in Lancashire, police have said.

The victim, 35, was attacked at the back of Exchange Street, Colne, at about 22:00 BST on Saturday.

Police believe the man was disturbed when he overheard someone else speaking further up the street.

Det Insp Jim Elston appealed for any witnesses to the "opportunist attack" to come forward.
