Hoghton body find 'linked to rail death'

Charles Crescent Police were called to Charles Crescent, Hoghton, where a woman was found dead in a bedroom

A murder inquiry has started after the body of a woman was discovered with stab wounds at a house in Lancashire.

The 57-year-old woman was found in the property in Charles Crescent, Hoghton, near Preston, at about 20:30 BST on Sunday.

The death is thought to be linked to an incident earlier on Sunday, in which a 58-year-old man was struck and killed by a train in Hoghton, police said.

Officers are not treating his death as suspicious.

Lancashire Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the woman's death.

A post-mortem examination found her cause of death to be multiple injuries, including stab wounds.
