Two men arrested over attack death in St Annes

A 47-year-old man has died after being attacked in the street as he walked home with friends and family.

Lancashire Police said the man was assaulted after an altercation at about 23:00 BST on Monday in St Annes.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene in Park Road, near Zeko's takeaway, but died at Blackpool Victoria Hospital a short time later.

A man, 32, from St Annes, was arrested on suspicion of murder and a man, 45, has been held on suspicion of assault.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out later.

Det Supt Andy Murphy said: "This is a tragic incident and an investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of exactly what happened."
