Singer Russell Watson will be headlining this summer's Lytham Proms Festival.

The three-day music festival on the Fylde coast takes place on 2-4 August on Lytham Green.

Rita Ora is also appearing alongside Watson in the Last Night of the Proms style concert on Saturday night.

Watson said he had close links with Lytham and Blackpool, adding: "In essence it's where my career started. I'm expecting a very, very good night."

The tenor said the people and the area held special memories for him as he spent 10 years working in the area, including a summer season on Blackpool's North Pier with Paul O'Grady.

Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley, Marc Almond and Jason Donovan will be opening the festival by hosting the 80's Strikes Back night on Friday.

Violinist and entertainer Gary Lovini, a former winner of New Faces in 1986 from Lytham St Annes, is making his debut at the festival.

BBC Radio Lancashire's Graham Liver and Sally Naden will be compering the main event on 3 August.
