Darts player Kevin Spiolek denies sexual assault

A former darts player has pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a girl aged under 16 during a tournament in Blackpool 14 years ago.

Kevin Spiolek, 50, is charged with two counts of indecent assault against the girl, who cannot be named, during the World Matchplay event in July 1999.

Mr Spiolek, of Water Lane, Oakington, Cambridge, appeared at Burnley Crown Court.

He was bailed to appear for trial on 24 June.

Mr Spiolek was a regular on the darts circuit in the late 1980s and 1990s and knocked multiple world champion Phil Taylor out in the second round of the 1993 World Darts Championship.
