Police chase car crashes into Lancashire house

A driver of a car that crashed into a house during a police pursuit is in a serious condition in hospital, Lancashire Police said.

Officers said two police cars began following the Mitsubishi Animal after it was seen in Flensburg Way, Leyland.

The driver lost control of the car on a bend before crashing into a house on Longmeanygate at 00:20 BST.

A 54-year-old man from Leyland was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital, police said.

The occupants of the house were not injured and were able to remain in the house after it was assessed by building inspectors, police said.

The vehicle was trapped in the wall of the house before being winched out by firefighters.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and have referred it to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
