A 31-year-old man has been remanded in custody accused of murdering his father at a house in Lancashire.

Anthony Hughes, of no fixed address, was remanded by Blackburn Magistrates' Court to appear at Preston Crown Court on 17 April.

The body of Brian Hughes, 60, was found at The Lea, Darwen, in the early hours of Sunday after police were called to a report of an assault.

Police said a post-mortem examination found that he died of head injuries.
