A mother-of-three who went missing while suffering postnatal depression has been found dead.

Karen Simpson, 31, of Burscough, Lancashire, was last seen leaving the Tesco store on Liverpool Road North on Sunday morning but never returned home.

Police said a body, believed to be that of Mrs Simpson, was found in a field in her home village earlier.

A spokeswoman said her family had been informed and were being supported by trained officers.

Mrs Simpson had two sons and a daughter who was three months old.

About 70 officers had been looking for her along with more than 100 volunteers.
