A van driver who knocked Sir Bradley Wiggins off his bike has accepted the offer of a driver awareness course, police have said.

The 32-year-old Olympic champion spent a night in hospital with rib and hand injuries following the accident near his home in Eccleston in November.

After a formal interview, Cath Burrows, 44, was summonsed by police over driving without due care and attention.

A police spokesman said she had agreed to complete a driver awareness course.
