Missing John Ankers: Body found in Wirral woodland

John Ankers John Ankers was last seen when he left for work on Sunday

Police looking for a man who went missing from his Wirral home at the weekend said a body has been found.

John Ankers, 28, was last seen when he left his home on Sandfield Road, Upton, for his job at a branch of Blockbuster in Birkenhead on Sunday morning.

Officers said a body was found by a member of the public in woodland near Arrowe Park Hospital at 11:00 GMT.

Formal identification has not yet taken place and detectives are treating the death as unexplained.

A spokeswoman said crime scene investigators were at the scene and the investigation is in its early stages.
