Blackburn bungalow fire death: Seven arrested

Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of murdering an 88-year-old man who died in a bungalow fire in Blackburn.

Christopher Proctor died in the blaze which started on Pleckgate Road shortly before 04:00 GMT on Saturday.

A 38-year-old man and a woman aged 30 have been questioned and bailed while an investigation continues, police have said.

The five others have been released without charge.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out but the cause of Mr Proctor's death is currently unknown.

Det Supt Paul Withers, who is leading the investigation, said: "I would appeal for anyone who has any information which may assist us in our inquiries to come forward and contact us."
