More calls to ban nitrogen drinks
Health experts and MPs are calling for a ban on drinks containing liquid nitrogen.
David Morris, the Conservative MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, has tabled a Commons Early Day Motion and has written to the Prime Minister, Food Standards Agency and Secretary of State for Health calling for the ban.
It follows the case of 18-year-old Gaby Scanlon, who had to have her stomach removed in an emergency operation after drinking a cocktail containing liquid nitrogen.
Jenny Morris, from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, said: "Clearly from this incident it's dangerous if the people who are dealing with it don't understand how to use it."
