Rail services resume after Poulton package a false alarm

Bomb experts have given the all clear after examining a suspicious package found in a car boot.

Rail services from Blackpool to Preston have resumed and roads have reopened.

Police said experts thoroughly examined a package in a car boot at Poulton Business Park near Aldon Coachworks.

A 200-metre cordon in the area has now been lifted and roads reopened including the A586 Garstang Road. A spokesman for Northern Rail said trains would soon be back to normal.

A workman alerted police to the package at about 10:50 BST.
