How Preston Guild reinvented itself
The Preston Guild looked like petering out in the 18th Century but the celebrations survived because it reinvented itself as a high class social event, according to a historian.
Dr Alan Crosby goes back to where the event labelled the People's Guild all began in 1179.
David Hughlock emigrated to Los Angeles in 1964 but he is so passionate about the Guild, which take place every 20 years, he comes home for the celebrations.
He said: "I'm hoping to get here for 2032 - I'll only be 94!"
