A man whose body was found on the beach in Blackpool has been named by police.

Leslie Bertram, 44, from Blackpool, was found between Central and South Pier in the early hours of Saturday.

Colin Dugdale, 27, of Lytham Road and Paul Thompson, 43, of Woodfield Road, both in Blackpool, have been charged with his murder.

Mr Dugdale and Mr Thompson have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police were called to reports that a body was on the beach opposite the Lyndene Hotel at about 04:00 BST on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination showed Mr Bertram died from injuries sustained in an assault.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of murder but the third was released without charge.
