Freedom honour for Accrington Stanley's Jack Barrett
The only surviving founder member of modern Accrington Stanley Football Club is one of four people to be given the Freedom of the Borough of Hyndburn.
Jack Barrett, 86, from Accrington, helped save the club when it faced extinction in 1968, and helped build its current home at the Crown Ground.
The war veteran will receive his award for making sports history at Accrington Town Hall on Saturday.
Joan Pilkington, Nigel Berry and Roy Lockwood will also be made freemen.
Mr Berry, of Huncoat, recently retired from Hyndburn Borough Council after more than 40 years working as a gardener at Oakhill and Mercer Parks.
Mrs Pilkington, from Accrington, has worked hard for the past 15 years promoting the causes of West Accrington residents.
Royal British Legion caseworker and Chair of the East Lancashire Branch, Roy Lockwood of Oswaldtwistle, has helped many ex-service men and women and their families.
