Blackburn assault probe after death of man

An investigation is under way into the death of a man who hospital staff believe may have been assaulted.

Lancashire Police were called by staff who had treated the man at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday night.

The man had earlier been picked up by the ambulance service from an address on Adelaide Terrace.

Officers cordoned off the scene and later arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The man remains in custody and investigations are ongoing.
