Police hunt man over stabbing at Blackpool flats

Police have released details of a man they want to speak to after a 50-year-old was stabbed in the back at a block of flats in Blackpool.

The man was attacked at the flats in Reads Avenue in the resort at about 1400 BST on Wednesday.

He is being treated at Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he is said to be in a serious condition.

Lancashire police want to speak to 37-year-old Steven Carter, from Blackpool, in connection with the attack.

He is described as 6ft (1.8m) with long, dark brown curly hair and blue eyes.

Det Insp Becky Smith said: "I would urge anyone who thinks that they have seen Steven Carter or who thinks they may know where he is to contact us.

"We would advise members of the public not to approach him but to call the police immediately.

"I would also appeal to Steven himself to contact us and let us know where he is."

She said the attack was "an isolated incident".
