Liam White Liam White went missing from the Category D Standford Hill prison on Sunday afternoon

A convicted robber who went on the run from an open prison that was at the centre of a recent high-profile fugitive case has been detained.

Liam White left HMP Standford Hill on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent on Sunday.

A statement from Kent Police said the 23-year-old had been detained, but there were no more details.

Armed robber Michael Wheatley, dubbed the "Skull Cracker" absconded from the same jail in May. He was caught after raiding a building society in Surrey.

Wheatley, 55, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court to life behind bars and told he would serve at least 10 years before being eligible for parole.
