Free bus for job-hunting homeless people in Kent

A bus operator is providing free transport to and from job interviews for homeless people in Kent.

Sittingbourne-based Chalkwell is working with the charity Porchlight to help people in homeless hostels.

Jo Dawes, from Porchlight, said many in its supported accommodation project for 16 to 24-year-olds would have been unable to afford the transport costs.

"At Porchlight, we know that getting a job can change someone's life," she said.

"It leads to stability, independence and is a key way out of future homelessness."

The charity operates 11 hostels for the homeless in Kent.
