Pedestrian killed in Northfleet van crash

A man in his 70s was killed when he was hit by a van in Northfleet in Kent.

The pedestrian, who is thought to be from Gravesend, was struck by a Hyundai in Perry Street at about 07.55 BST on Wednesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The van driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Perry Street has been closed temporarily while Kent Police investigate the crash. The force has appealed for witnesses.
