Man held after Kent police officer hit and injured by car

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was hit and injured by a car which failed to stop.

The Tonbridge-based officer was struck by a VW Golf in London Road, Larkfield, Kent, at about 18:50 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital in London, where his condition was described as serious but stable, police said.

A 27-year-old man from Rochester attended Maidstone police station on Sunday and is being questioned.

The injured officer had been carrying out inquiries with the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident, police said.
