Two Chatham shop staff tied up as store safe emptied of £11K

Staff at a convenience store in Kent were tied up and threatened before two men got away with about £11,000.

The raiders struck some time before 06:00 BST at the One Stop Shop on Watling Street in Chatham.

Detectives have appealed for anybody who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Det Sgt Heather Thompson said: "This was no doubt a distressing incident for the staff involved and fortunately they were uninjured."

She added: "I would encourage anyone who saw two people matching the descriptions of the suspects or anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident to contact police."
