A huge fire at a builders' merchants on an industrial estate in north Kent has been tackled by about 80 firefighters.

The blaze at Northfleet Industrial Estate, in Botany Road, Northfleet, began in the early hours, spreading to several lorries and adjacent buildings.

Kent Fire and Rescue said two vehicles were moved to safety while other areas were protected using water jets.

The fire was under control by 07:00 BST, with about 25 firefighters and four engines still at the scene.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire, which started at about 01:00 BST, is under investigation.
