Pedestrian struck by car in Dover dies

A man died when he was struck by a car as he walked along a road in Kent.

The 31-year-old pedestrian was hit on the westbound carriageway of the A20 Townwall Street in Dover, close to the port, just after 01:00 BST.

The driver of a BMW, who had been heading away from the Port of Dover, stopped after the incident and is helping police with their inquiries.

The injured man, who was from Dover, had been crossing the road, police said. The motorist was not arrested.
