A man has been charged with attempted kidnap after a woman was threatened by men with baseball bats in Kent.

A 24-year-old from Ramsgate was walking along Addington Street, in Margate, when a van stopped ahead of her on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

She told police it then reversed towards her. Men with baseball bats and golf clubs got out and ran towards her.

The 23-year-old man from Ramsgate, who is due in court later, has also been charged with affray.

He has been remanded in custody.

The woman managed to escape uninjured, a Kent Police spokesman said.
