Man killed in M20 lorry crash after hard shoulder stop

A man has been fatally struck by a lorry on the M20 after getting out of his car on the hard shoulder.

The 53-year-old driver from the Hastings area, in East Sussex, was hit after stopping his car on the motorway near Ashford at 14:10 BST.

The London-bound carriageway was closed between junctions 10 and 9 for about six hours, causing long delays.

Kent Police said the lorry driver was not arrested. The force said a report was being prepared for the coroner.
