Man arrested over John O'Donohue murder
A 20-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a father who was hit by a car.
John O'Donohue, 33, was left critically injured when a stolen Ford Mondeo estate car was driven at him in Castlemaine Avenue in Gillingham, Kent, on Thursday.
He had been walking with a friend after an argument with two men in the car.
Kent Police said the car had been used as a weapon and the death was being treated as murder.
The man, from Rochester, was arrested earlier on suspicion of the supply of a controlled drug and affray.
He remains in custody and is assisting police with their inquiries, the force said.
Maise O'Donohue, Mr O'Donohue's mother, said: "John was a gentle giant who lived for his children.
"He was a loving father, son and grandchild and was a family man first and foremost."
Mr O'Donohue, who was also known as John Hedges, was left trapped underneath the car.
His friend was unhurt and ran to raise the alarm at a nearby badminton club.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
