A man has been found guilty of murdering his former girlfriend's son in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Jurijs Popovs, 47, of London Road, Teynham, was convicted at Maidstone Crown Court of stabbing Dimitri Titovs, 21, to death following an argument.

Kent Police said Popovs had been living with Mr Titovs' mother and the two men did not get along. Mr Titovs was found fatally wounded outside the property.

Popovs was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 10 September.

Large knife

Following the verdict, Det Ch Insp Jon Clayden said Popovs had denied murder despite being arrested minutes after Mr Titovs was found dying from a stab wound to his chest.

He said witnesses had also seen him with a large knife.

"It appears this very sad incident all stemmed from some bad feeling between Popovs and Dimitri.

"The attack lasted just seconds but cost a young man his life and left his loved ones struggling to pick up the pieces," he said.
