Maidstone man charged over 'hammer attack'

A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a man received serious head injuries in a suspected hammer attack.

Kent Police said the 35-year-old victim was in a stable condition in hospital after being attacked in Boxley Road, Maidstone early on Saturday morning.

A man from Maidstone was arrested on Sunday afternoon.

He has also been charged with possessing an offensive weapon and failing to stop after a road collision.

Officers are still investigating the incident and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
