Man held over vials of liquid in Herne Bay ballot box

A man has been arrested after two small vials of an unknown liquid were found in a ballot box in Kent.

The local election count was disrupted for three hours on Friday to enable police officers at Beacon Hill, in Herne Bay, to remove the liquid.

The vials were taken away for analysis, according to a spokesman for Canterbury City Council.

The 47-year-old man, from Whitstable, was arrested on suspicion of tampering with a nomination paper.
