Woman dies and man seriously hurt in Rochester crash

A 30-year-old woman has been killed and a 29-year-old man seriously injured in a crash in Kent.

It happened on Ratcliffe Highway in Rochester shortly before 16:00 BST on Saturday.

Police said a grey Peugeot left the road and collided with a road sign before landing in a nearby field.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was airlifted to a London hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition.

Two children were taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital by land ambulance with minor injuries.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.
