A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a man who died four days after being attacked.

Paul Scott, 43, of Franklin Road, Gillingham, initially refused treatment after being knocked to the ground on 10 February in Medway.

He later went to hospital, where he was treated for a broken leg. He returned on 14 February, and died later.

Robert Alderman, of Canadian Avenue, Gillingham, was remanded in custody by Medway magistrates.

He will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.

Kent Police say that a post-mortem examination showed Mr Scott died of a blood clot.
