Volunteers are using canoes to search Kent marshland for a 54-year-old man who has been missing for two weeks.

John Harvey, of Minster, Thanet, was last seen when he dropped off relatives in Canterbury on 19 January.

His car was discovered a few days later at nearby Stodmarsh Nature Reserve. Kent Police said his disappearance was "completely out of character".

Kent Search and Rescue volunteers are searching streams and waterways in Stodmarsh on Saturday.

Det Insp Jon Holl said: "We know Mr Harvey is familiar with the area, but the recent snow may have changed the terrain that he is used to.

"His disappearance is completely out of character, and he was in good spirits following a family reunion.

"We and his family are extremely concerned for his welfare, and would urge anyone who knows of his whereabouts to contact us."

Mr Harvey is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build and with brown receding hair. He was wearing black trousers, a black jumper, a black coat and black shoes.
