Gillingham stabbing victim David Young dies in hospital

A 28-year-old man stabbed on New Year's Day has died from his injuries.

He has been named locally as David Young, of Beatty Avenue, Gillingham, and was a father of two daughters.

He was found critically injured in Windmill Road, Gillingham, with a stab wound to his thigh at 02:50 GMT, but died in hospital on Saturday.

Last week, Stuart Porter, 18, of Buttermere Close, in Gillingham, and a 17-year-old from Rochester, were charged with grievous bodily harm.

Kent Police said the case was now being treated as a murder investigation.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out in the next few days.

Friends of Mr Young have set up a tribute page to raise money for his family.
