Two held over Gillingham 'stabbing' attack

A man and a teenager have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an attack in Gillingham.

Police arrested the pair after a 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound to his thigh.

Officers were called to Windmill Road in the early hours after an alleged assault by about seven people, a Kent Police spokeswoman said.

She said a 17-year-old from Rochester and a Gillingham man, 20, were arrested nearby.

The injured man remained in hospital where his condition was described as stable but life-threatening on New Year's Day.

Anyone who heard or saw the alleged assault at about 02:50 GMT has been urged to contact Kent Police.
