Police at scene The area around the flats was cordoned off by police on New Year's Day

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 21-year-old Sittingbourne man died in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The man was found injured outside a block of flats in London Road, Teynham, near Sittingbourne, where police had earlier dealt with a disturbance.

Kent Police said the disturbance at about 01:30 GMT was resolved.

But about half an hour later, officers returned after a report that a man had been found with a suspected stab wound.

A spokesman for the force said the man was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Kent Police said three local men, aged 48, 31 and 29, had been arrested and were being questioned on suspicion of murder.

Officers said a post-mortem examination would be held later. The man who died has not yet been named.

Anyone who heard or witnessed the disturbance, or who has any information about what happened after that, is urged to contact Kent Police.
