Animals killed in Sheerness pet shop arson

A fire at a pet shop in which a number of animals died is being treated as a suspected arson by Kent Police.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the fire in Rose Street, Sheerness, at about 02:40 GMT on Sunday.

Police said they believed an accelerant had been poured through the letterbox of Sheppey Aquatics and Pet Supplies shop before being ignited.

A number of small animals, including fish, mice, spiders and reptiles died as a result of the fire.
