Southeastern to run Boxing Day trains for sales shoppers

Javelin train Javelin trains, which can reach speeds of up to 140mph, will run between Ashford, Ebbsfleet, Stratford and St Pancras on Boxing Day

Extra high-speed rail services will operate between Kent and London on Boxing Day to enable shoppers to get to the sales, Southeastern has announced.

Javelin trains, which reach speeds of up to 140mph, will run between Ashford, Ebbsfleet, Stratford and St Pancras.

The extra services follow an agreement with the Department for Transport.

Transport minister Norman Baker said "successful services" on the High Speed 1 rail link during the Olympic Games showed there was sufficient demand.

Sarah Boundy, of Southeastern, added that there would also be free parking at Ashford and Ebbsfleet on 26 December.
