Work to reduce Kent River Dour flood risk
Work to clear obstructions from a Kent river will reduce the flood risk, the Environment Agency has said.
The Dour, which flows through Dover, is fed by groundwater and responds quickly to rainfall, a spokesman said.
Maintenance work to be carried out for the first time this year is to become an annual programme, the agency said.
The work, to take place over five weeks from 8 October, will include removing vegetation, cutting back branches and reducing or removing man-made islands.
