Catapult attack in Dartford: Man loses eye

A man has been left blind in one eye after he was hit in the face by a missile fired from a catapult.

The 31-year-old's eyeball split in the attack outside his home in Dartford and he is due to have his eye removed.

Kent Police say two men knocked on his door in Birch Place at 20:00 BST on 7 September and confirmed his name before firing the weapon.

They say his injuries will affect him for the rest of his life and have had a "devastating impact" on his family.

The victim was taken to Maidstone Hospital, but nothing could be done to save his eyesight.

Police say his attackers ran off towards Hayes Road and got into a white van, and had been seen talking to a man and a woman on Stone Recreation Ground shortly beforehand.

A number of children were playing in the garden at the time of the assault.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. They say the first man was white, around 5ft 8in tall, stocky, in his early 20s and wearing a white polo shirt and dark jacket.

The second man was taller, slim, of tanned appearance and wearing a beige jacket.
