Sittingbourne's landmark water tower demolished
Construction work began on the paper mill site ahead of the demolition
A 180ft (54m) water tower in Kent, which was once part of the largest paper mill in the world, has been demolished in a controlled explosion.
The structure in Sittingbourne was brought down at 06:30 BST in order to make way for a multi-million pound redevelopment of the site.
The mill closed five years ago after producing paper on the site for more than 130 years.
New homes, leisure facilities and a superstore will be built in its place.
Construction work has already begun on the site.
