Swanscombe bonfire sets 20 tonnes of tyres alight
Twenty tonnes of tyres caught fire when a bonfire got out of control, leading to a plume of black smoke rising into the sky in the Swanscombe area of Kent.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said five fire engines and a command support unit attended the blaze in Manor Way.
Emergency services were called to the fire at 14:00 BST and used a compressed air foam system to control the blaze.
The fire was under control by 16:40 BST, but firefighters remained at the scene with three fire engines.
Kent Police was controlling traffic in London Road, Swanscombe, near Dartford.
