Man, 70, killed in road crash outside Port of Dover

A 70-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving crashed into railings near the Port of Dover.

Kent Police said the local man suffered fatal injuries in the crash involving a VW Golf on the A20 in Dover, just before 05:00 BST on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers do not think any other vehicle was involved.

The London-bound carriageway of the A20 was closed for about four hours following the accident.

Kent Police said the man had been driving away from the docks at the time of the crash and have appealed for witnesses.
