Retired prison PE instructor Roy Guy, 59, has carried the Olympic torch through his home town of Deal, in Kent, on day 62 of the relay which ended in Maidstone.

Mr Guy, who worked for the Prison Service for 37 years and also ran local soccer schools and football teams, was the second torchbearer of the day.

"That was the most awesome thing you could ever think of," he said afterwards. "It's put the Olympics right here on our high street."

Mr Guy was awarded the Imperial Service Medal on his retirement and now volunteers as a sports helper at a primary school in Deal.
