Charles Dickens bicentenary: Tamzin Outhwaite on author's relevance

Actor Tamzin Outhwaite has visited the Dickens Estate in Gravesend, Kent, to ask residents what they know about author Charles Dickens.

Tuesday 7 February 2012 is the 200th anniversary of Dickens' birth.

Outhwaite took part in a workshop on the estate where residents and actors improvised scenes which combined the author's characters with modern day experiences.

Charles Dickens' life was divided between London and Kent. He grew up in Chatham and died at his home in Higham, near Rochester.

Former Eastenders actor Outhwaite appears in a new film adaptation of Great Expectations which is due for release at the end of 2012.
