A man has admitted murdering his 22-year-old wife at their home in Kent.

Agris Titans, 25, of Cecil Road, Rochester, who is originally from Latvia, pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to killing Edite Titane.

The body of Ms Titane, who was also from Latvia, was found on 1 August. A post-mortem examination found she had been strangled.

Police launched a manhunt and Titans was found more than 30 hours later walking along Rochester High Street.

He was arrested and charged with murdering Ms Titane some time between July 30 and August 1 last year but he denied the charge.

But on what would have been the first day of his trial he pleaded guilty to murder and will be sentenced on Tuesday.
