Pensioner dies after Birchington reverse-park crash

An 87-year-old driver who was involved in a collision in Kent has died.

He was driving on Station Road in Birchington when his silver Renault Megane collided with a silver Citroen Xsara at about 10:55 GMT on Thursday.

The driver of the Citroen - who police said was reverse-parking at the time of the crash - and a young child who was a passenger in her car were unhurt.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate where he was pronounced dead.

Kent Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
